Indian Knowledge System has gained renewed academic importance in contemporary higher education, especially after the National Education Policy 2020. The purpose of this book is to introduce students to the meaning, scope, nature, and relevance of Indian Knowledge System in a clear, structured, and academically responsible manner.
This book does not present IKS as a fixed or uniform tradition. It treats it as a plural, evolving, and historically layered body of knowledge shaped through observation, experience, oral transmission, textual codification, reasoning, debate, practice, and adaptation. The book also avoids an uncritical glorification of the past. Its central aim is to help learners understand IKS through evidence, context, comparison, and responsible interpretation.
