India will be celebrating its 100th year of independence in 2047. The vision of a developed, globally competitive, and inclusive economy by then, as expressed in the vision of Viksit Bharat, creates a set of questions, as economic, technological, institutional, and social. How to share the benefits of a rapidly digitalizing economy? How will AI and automation affect organizations, workers, and educators? How is it possible to achieve growth without damaging the environment or without “forgetting” the communities that have been on the periphery of the national development process? These are the questions that have led to India@2047: Innovation, Digital Economy, and Sustainable Growth.
This book arose from a call for chapters on the opportunities, challenges, and strategic pathways that will guide India’s journey to 2047. After careful editorial evaluation of the submissions received, twenty-five chapters were accepted for inclusion in this book.
