This book collects, organises and interprets the Pathya and Apathya of the Urdhwajatrugata Rogas: the diseases of the eye, ear, nose, oral cavity, throat and head. The classical material is scattered. Sushruta places the bulk of it in the Uttaratantra, Vagbhata redistributes it across the Uttarasthana of the Ashtanga Hridaya, Madhava Nidana supplies diagnostic clarity, Sharangadhara and Bhaishajya Ratnavali supply formulations with their attendant restrictions, and Yogaratnakara offers the most explicit Pathya-Apathya sections of all. Bringing them together in one place, disease by disease, is the first purpose of this text.
